Artificial Intelligence Policy

I am staunchly against artificial intelligence, large language models (LLMs), and chatbots across my creative practice.

These tools were built on the theft of my work along with the works of thousands of other authors. We did not consent to this use case. 

I have previously written about my personal devastation when I discovered that Chaos Calling had been stolen without my consent. It remains one of the worst days of my creative life.

I do not use generative AI tools anywhere in my creative practice or in the marketing of my books. My editors, illustrators, cover designers, and other publishing collaborators are all human.

I will not upload working or published files to an LLM and consider it a violation of my creative and human rights for you to do so for any reason. That includes beta readers and ARC reviewers.

I believe in the value of human creativity. I make every effort to avoid AI-generated images or video clips in my book marketing. When using free tools like Canva, I do not use AI augmentations or sub tools built into that platform. 

No Generative AI training: I strictly prohibit unauthorized uploading, data mining, ingestion, or use of my manuscripts or blog posts—in whole or in part—to train artificial intelligence technologies, machine learning models, or large language models. I do not grant you or your company the right to use my text for synthetic content generation or algorithmic adaptation. By visiting this site or interacting with my published work, you agree not to upload, input or otherwise transmit my words, or any portion thereof, into any generative artificial intelligence system, large language model, or consumer-facing AI tool, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies, for any purpose, including editing, summarizing, evaluating, or machine learning training. 

I will never consent to this use case.

All data and content such as images, text, audio and video on this website are protected by copyright laws. I retain all rights it may hold for all data and content on this website. Copyrights and other proprietary rights for data and content on the website may also subsist in individuals and entities other than, and in addition to me. 

I expressly prohibit copying, publication, distribution or any other use of data and content on the website. All rights not expressly granted by I herein are specifically and completely reserved.

Trademarks

The names, titles, trademarks, service marks and logos of third parties on the website are registered and unregistered marks of those third parties. You may not use these any such elements without prior written permission of their respective owners.

I collect and store aggregated, anonymized or pseudonymized information about activity on and interaction with this website, such as IP address, the type of device or browser used, and any actions on the website. I use this information to track and analyze use of the website so I can provide users with the best experience possible. I will indefinitely retain the aggregated, anonymized or pseudonymized information collected to protect the safety and security of the website, improve the website, or comply with legal obligations.

If you sign up for my newsletter, I collect and store your name and email address. I use the information to communicate with you via email and to deliver the newsletter. I will retain your email addresses and may choose to send you the newsletter for as long as you are subscribed to the newsletter. You will always have the opportunity to unsubscribe from future newsletters.
