Born in Northern Ontario, E. M. Williams is an award-winning fantasy action author whose work is informed by sibling bonds, parenthood, her marketing career in tech, the perils of being a super-heroic woman trying to ‘have it all,’ and really great battle scenes.

Chaos Calling, her first published novel and the first book in The Xenthian Cycle, won the 2025 Canadian Book Club Award in SCI-FI/Fantasy. It was also an Amazon #1 Hot New Release in 2022.

Elizabeth earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Arts in Literary Theory from the University of Guelph. She also completed a course in writing speculative fiction through the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies, and is a former member of the Science Fiction Research Association. 

In 2012, Elizabeth gave a TedxTalk on women, superheroes and power. Originally intended to make her past scholarship work more accessible to a wider audience, it inadvertently supercharged her writing. 

Elizabeth is a member of the Writer’s Union of Canada and the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association. She currently lives with her family in Toronto, where she works in the technology sector.
